Kid Style - View From the Street #3

This Memorial Day, I found Simon on Lefferts Avenue. Simon's wearing Crocs, hand-me-down CrewCuts shorts, a tank top from OshKosh, a Ralph Lauren shirt (found on eBay), and his Papa's hat.

Dress Up

Mema and Errolyn
Has is really been 5 months since my last post?  Going through files today, making sure everything is backed up before all these hard drives crash, I came across this file and decided it was time for an update.  Okay fine, these photos are from three years ago, but you haven't seen them so they are new to you.  These images get me thinking about my editing process.  I change my perspective depending how I am attached to any particular photo shoot and why I may be taking those photos in the first place. Weather it's a personal shoot or for a job, I think it is important to spend some time going back over shoots and see if my editing eye has a new outlook.  I still have one of the images from this shoot on my website and here are three other shots I like.  These pictures were taken in South Dakota. My mother styled the shoot and my daughter is the model. We were playing dress up.

GRDN

Posting something a little bit different today. I have 4 weeks of families to post too! I'll get working on that as soon as I post a few images from a photo shoot I did last weekend at GRDN.  GRDN is my local garden shop here in Brooklyn.  Such pretty gifts and flowers and plants and plates and books and everything lovely. There is even a new kids section which will be perfect for the next birthday party Errolyn is invited to. I love buying local and GRDN is perfect for that. It is also perfect for a little fashion shoot and flower headpieces. GRDN 103 Hoyt Street, Brooklyn

8 Families Capturing Light

Sunday was full of kids and kitties. We held our annual end of year portrait series here yesterday and it was full of light. Here are a few selects from the day.

Setting up for portrait day at the Weston studio

Here is  what we set up for our end of year portrait session that is happening here tomorrow.
Our apartment is small but we really do pull a lot of stuff off. This week we had a food shoot for OK magazine and a yarn shoot for Random House. I can't wait to see how the neighbors like the kids coming and going tomorrow.

My Muses

Sometimes it only takes a simple portrait to make my day. The girls were really up for a big photo shoot today and it was canceled. I'm so glad I talked them into sitting in front of my lens for a few minutes anyway. These are the moments that make photography everything for me.

Pink Tutu

This very sweet girl came to the apartment this weekend for her
very first photo shoot. She had a great time, I think she's hooked. Here she is having a quiet moment.

She's Six. She's A Stylist.

Having seen all the photo shoots happening in our apartment this past week, Errolyn came to me with a project idea. She will dress up her "guys" and I will capture the image. I could not say no. This is Lamby, or if you prefer, you may also call her Cindy.
